Sandro Knezović, PhD, a Senior Research Associate at the Department for International Economic and Political Relations, has published an article „The Impact of NATO“ in the new European Union Institute for Security Studies (EUISS) publication „Resilience in Western Balkans“ (Report no.36, August 2017). The Report analyses Western Balkans as a potentially volatile geopolitical region, as well as the factors of instability and resilience.
In the article „The Impact of NATO“ Dr. Knezović analyses the role of NATO as an external factor of resilience in the Western Balkans against the destabilizing impact of other increasingly assertive geopolitical players in the region. The challenges to security are analyzed, in specific countries and region as a whole, but also the mechanisms at NATO’s disposal for facing these challenges. Furthermore, specific recommendations for building the security and resilience in the Western Balkans region are given.
